What is SFLAH and why and how has it started
Since SIERRA cancelled the Quest For Glory Series, after QFG5: Dragon Fire, many fans were disappointed. Fan projects have been started to continue in creating games similar to QFG. Hero6 is if not the first one of the first projects started.
Paladin Valian was (and is again) a member at Hero6. Because he was not content with their plot development to that time he and Magick Cat started off their own project called SFLAH.
SFLAH has gone through many struggles and ended up to be coordinated by Igorrr now, who at first only joined as musician.

SFLAH is similar to the Quest For Glory series but in no way affiliated with it, nor does it play in the world QFG. It is a 2D Adventure Role Playing Game where you play the role of a boy trying to find his home and parents in a world of raging war. If you are interested in the story just check out the "About Section".
Is SFLAH not supposed to be dead?
Emmm... well... err... ooffff...garbledarf....
no...

The title has proven to be a self fulfilling prophecy to the project itself. Through many changes and setbacks SFLAH has struggled to survive and it is now also fighting to regain its honour in the fan gaming community.
I know how many people we have disappointed over the years.

SFLAH was nearly dead in 2003, right after having its greatest progress in Summer 2002 (not in art, though). Yes and yes and yes art has been the biggest problem of SFLAH since Magick Cat left.
When is SFLAH going to be finished?
Yeah that's a good one... first asking if it is dead and when you see it is not, already asking for its final release.

It will take it's time. SFLAH has gone through many changes and some departments (especially art) are almost starting all over again.
But to not disappoint you, SFLAH will be updated more recently and you will be given a lot more inside on the development than before.
How much will the game cost when it is finished?
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!!!

The game is being developed for the fun and glory alone. How big the download will be and/or if it will be offered on a cd (Where you have to pay the production price, but nothing more) I cannot say at this stage.
Why is SFLAH delaying so much?
Well this is a question that is asked to every open project community. First of all of course because we are doing this in our spare time aside from our real work we get payed for. Also real life can be managing as well.
Aside from that the REAL reason why SFLAH is progressing slowly is because there are not enough artists and for months now this department has not advanced a bit.
There is still work going on concerning the plot and the engine. The SFLAH demos are done with ripped art and because of that these are not being made public.
Music
What kind of music will SFLAH have?
The soundtrack of SFLAH will be medieval folk and (neo-)classical music. As instruments you will mainly hear strings and wood instruments.
What music formats are you using for SFLAH ?
OGG Vorbis !!! There will be no MIDI soundtrack in the game. There are some samples used in the music that can not be reproduced by GM MIDI. Unless there are going to be a lot requests and complaints we will consider implementing MIDI as well.

As for the OGG or MP3 issue. OGG has better quality and is totally without any hassle. Anyway it is better as a free project to support other free projects :-).
The Game
Which Engine will be used for SFLAH
Which engine will be used is at the moment still in evaluation. Long ago it was decided to use AGS. Especially because QFG 4.5 used this engine and when trying it out myself offered everything needed to make a QFG game. But some months ago I found out about the Wintermute engine which really seems much better to work with than AGS.
I was very much supported and helped at the WME forums. Having created a small battle demo for myself with WME I decided to use this engine for the entire game.
Not to leave out though that the AGS community is also big, great, friendly and that the engine itself is great.
